Why does my chamois cream feel hard on some days and softer on others?
Because our chamois cream is made from mostly butters and has no stabilizing chemicals it is temperature sensitive and designed to soften when it comes in contact with your skin. Shea butter is the softest
and melts at 96º F where mango butter is a bit harder but melts at 86º F and cocoa butter, the hardest, melts at 100° F.

How can I prevent my chamois cream from melting in the summer months?
If you leave your chamois cream in a hot car during a race, chances are it will melt. If it does just stir it up and put it into the refrigerator when you get home. To prevent melting, it is best if you put your chamois cream in a cooler or away from direct heat. We offer sample sizes in the 'shop online' section. These small containers work great for traveling.

My chamois cream melted in the sun and now it feels grainy.
Don't worry, that's normal. When shea butter is melted and then hardens the fats crystalize making it feel grainy. The best way to avoid that is give it a stir and cool it quickly by refrigeration. It is still usable and you won't even feel it after applying.

How much chamois cream should I use?
As much or as little as you like. We find that a little goes a long way.

Why doesn't your chamois cream contain any water?
Because last time we checked water is free and you shouldn't have to pay for it. It also doesn't feel good in the chamois and it is definitely not a lubricant. Imagine leaving a wet diaper on a baby for 4 hours. Can you say rash?

What's the difference between Booty Balm and Ballocks?
The ingredients for the men's and women's chamois cream are almost identical except we use grapeseed oil instead of coconut oil in Booty Balm. The essential oils are a bit different also. The men's smells strong and medicinal where the women's smells like a field of French lavender.

How long is the shelf life?
We recommend using within a year of purchase. On the bottom of the jar, under the ingredient label, is the batch number and date it was made. Whenever possible store in a cool, dry place. And a hot car is not one of them so when you're racing try to keep it away from direct sun or inside a cooler.

Can I still use Booty Balm or Ballocks if I have a saddle sore?
Absolutely, most of our ingredients have skin conditioning and/or antiseptic qualities as well as anti-inflammatory properties.
We recommend applying after you've showered to help yourself heal.

Can I still use Booty Balm and Muscle Butter if I'm pregnant?
Essential oils are very potent so check with your doctor before using.

After I apply Muscle Butter I get a cooling sensation
That's the magic happening. Remember those Peppermint Pattie commercials? Feel the sensation? Peppermint cools by constricting the capillaries so instead of sitting in an 'ice bath' after a hard ride or run you can just use our Muscle Butter.

Can I use Muscle Butter on other parts of the body?
Yes, I keep a jar on my bedside table. I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with a headache and a little of this stuff rubbed on the back of my neck relieves the tension and eases the pain.

What is embrocation?
Our Crank embrocation is for colder and wetter weather pursuits. The oil and wax mixture will help repel water while the essential oil blend will draw blood to your muscles causing a mild heat sensation. Because everyone's skin sensitivity is different we recommend testing a small amount before a ride.
